Unapproved Drugs Warning The Ministry of Health in Jamaica is warning of the existence of unapproved drugs on the local market.
The Ministry of Health is aware that “Panadol Extra Strength Tablets, in a blue package, bearing the label “made in China by GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare” are available.
The Ministry is advising that “Panadol” Tablets made in China by GlaxoSmithKline have not been approved for sale in Jamaica. Members of the public are warned that they should desist from using these tablets as they have not been assessed for safety or quality.
In addition there are three (3) cases of suspected parallel importation from unregistered sources for the following items: -
- Betnovate Ointment 0.1% 30gr -
- Betnovate Cream 0.1% 30gr -
- Ventolin Syrup 2mg/5 ml
The approved source of Panadol Tablets and the above-listed items for the Jamaican market is GlaxoSmithKline, Panama.
The Ministry of Health wishes to remind the public that the importation and sale of any pharmaceutical not approved by the Ministry of Health constitutes a breach of the Food & Drugs Act & Regulations which can attract sanctions.
