Indian Arrival Day, celebrated on May 30, commemorates the arrival of the first Indian Indentured labourers from India to Trinidad in May 1845, on the Fatel Razack.
The Fatel Razack brought not only a new labour force to assist in the economic development of T&T, but also a new people with a new culture, a new lifestyle and new traditions.
House of Jaipur salutes this achievement and in honour of the 169th anniversary of Indian Arrival, is proud to celebrate this occasion with a presentation entitled Suhani Raat.
Translated in English, Suhani Raat means “A beautiful night” and is the night chosen by The House of Jaipur to unveil its 2014 collection.
A release from the House of Jaipur said, May 21 will be “a glorious evening of Eastern glitz and glamour while embracing the flair and style of the Caribbean woman.”
Having just concluded the successful Bombay Dreams series, House of Jaipur will once again promote the beauty of our diverse society. The fashion house notes that “while much of the world is just learning to embrace multiculturalism and accept diversity, Trinidadians have been living it for more than a century.”
