Identifying the current temperature of global affairs as requiring a “strategic approach”, Dr. Carla Barnett, CARICOM Secretary-General, has expressed an enthusiastic welcome to new CARICOM Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign and Community Relations, Ms. Elizabeth Solomon. Ms. Solomon hails from Trinidad and Tobago and has extensive experience in law, mediation, and foreign service.
Notably, she has been stationed in Kosovo and Bosnia, as well as The Office of the Resident Coordinator, Sierra Leone, under her tenure with the United Nations, where she fulfilled a variety of senior-level positions.
Previous to her appointment with CARICOM, she utilized this strong background in negotiating complex conflicts, as well as certification as a trained mediator, in her role as Judge at the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago.
“We look forward to the benefit of ASG Solomon’s extensive experience to advance the work of the Secretariat and the Community,” stated Dr. Barnett.
