Designer Stacy Smith is all grown up. On April 23, the creator of style unveiled her 2011-2012 line with the theme Sexy and Sassy at an intimate showing held at Aura Restaurant located on Cipriani Boulevard, Newtown. While the venue may not have been ideal for this type of presentation, the audience, it seemed, did not allow the lack of physical aesthetics for a showcase of this kind to rob them of a fun experience. The fashion file was one of the more important happenings in Smith’s life and the cast of young and experienced models preserved its significance. Urban cuts, beach wear, mixed with elegantly casual pieces from Smith fashion house filled the spotlight.
“It featured a more grown-up line. It showed how my personal style has evolved. It was specially geared towards that unique individual who likes to stand out. It was successful,” she told Sunday Vibe. JPS Enterprises, DMTV America, Kids Variety and Sacha Cosmetics recognised her growth, too, and saluted it by sponsoring the event. She now looks forward to sharing her work with the Fashion Week T&T (FWTT) audience. The young designer had presented collections at every edition of FWTT, which turns four this year. “I’m looking forward to FWTT. It has allowed me to be on the same platform with established designers. It has shown me how to put together a proper line. I’m thinking a little more out of the box this year. Thinking out of the box is a good thing. “FWTT is another avenue to present to people who were unable to make it to my show, how I’ve evolved,” Smith said.
