Sedene Blake has graced the pages of Vogueand now she comes to SHE Caribbean. Sizzling models, exceptional fashion designers and makeup artistes from around the Caribbean as well as a team from Centric TV, complemented by stunning tropical backdrops, will all form part of SHE Caribbean Magazine’s tenth year anniversary celebrations.
Plans are underway to celebrate SHE’s tenth anniversary in grand style this weekend, starting Friday when a team from Centric TV, previously BET J, makes their way to St Lucia to be part of what may just be one of the most spectacular photo shoots ever undertaken by the magazine.
This summer SHE will be celebrating ten years of being the premier Caribbean Magazine for women. The magazine has been in existence for 12 years, but went regional two years after the publication got off the ground.
Mae Wayne, SHE Publisher and Managing Director of the STAR Publishing Company that produces the magazine, is looking forward to a very exciting experience as two covers will be shot over the weekend.
“There’s going to be four photo shoots,” Wayne explained. “Centric’s team is flying here to record it all since we are doing it in conjunction with a travel show on Centric TV called “Splash.”
“Splash” will feature ten of Mae Wayne’s favourite places on the island as part of the experience and the magazine’s tenth anniversary. The SHE Publisher says the whole theme of the anniversary edition revolves around ten—including ten best places to go, ten best ways to diet and much more!
Wayne elaborated: “When you go back into the old issues to see where the magazine started, it’s been an amazing growth. When you’re doing it every day you don’t realize it, but it was a great exercise over the past several weeks going through the archives and looking at all the people who helped make the magazine what it is today. From the very beginning people liked the content and the concept, and we’ve improved vastly.”
The cover model for the SHE anniversary edition will be none other than Leah Marville, Miss Barbados World who was voted Sexiest Woman Alive for 2009 on globalbeauties.com.
“It will be a double pleasure because she’s going to be in the photo shoot and she will also be the hostess of the show along with Crystal Cunningham. I think Leah’s time has come. She’s beautiful, young and she’s retiring from modeling and going straight into TV. She’s a lawyer, a young accomplished woman and that’s what I like about her.
“Most people don’t realize she’s not just a model,” said Wayne. “A lot of young people want to be models and that’s great, but you have to have something to fall back on.”
A subsequent cover will be shot this weekend with Jamaican model Sedene Blake, who has graced the pages on Vogue multiple times.
While the magazine publisher wished to keep her top ten locations on the island secret for now, she gave the STAR a preview into the grand affair. Packed weekend activities include a photo shoot at a southern estate, a rainforest shoot, helicopter ride, sunset cruise and numerous other activities.
“The locations of the photo shoot are obviously my favourite places,” said Wayne. “It is exotic, we’ve never photographed in the rainforest and I’m very excited about that shoot. We haven’t had any shoot in Soufriere, believe it or not. It’s going to be great. We have four models, each one from a different island.”
In addition to the airing of scenes from St Lucia and the photo shoot, there will also be a promotion on Centric TV on how one can obtain their own copy of the SHE Caribbean Magazine. For more information visit www.shecaribbean .com.
