Lisa-Gayle Wee Tom
There was no official pageant to choose this new Jamaican Queen, but Miss Wee-Tom was selected at an executive level, after several potential candidates were screened using the international pageant judging criterion. This process included overall appearance, beauty of face, swimsuit appeal and fitness of body, poise, intelligence, elegance, personality and environmental awareness. The newly elected Queen was born in Kingston, Jamaica and started participating in the Jamaican carnival at the tender age of 4. That experience ignited a modeling career and by age 5 Lisa-gayle had already mastered the art of performing and modeling in front of large audiences. She has been featured in numerous print advertising campaigns and photo shoots.
Lisa-gayle is presently enrolled as a national honor-roll student on a Berita Scholarship at Florida Atlantic University where she is pursuing a major in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Tourism/Hospitality management. Her five year plan is to obtain her degree, host her own television show and chair her own charitable organization. This ambitious Jamaican beauty delegate who speaks fluent Spanish says she also plans pursue fashion designing and launch a clothing line.
Miss Jamaica International’s announcement comes on the heels of `Miss Jamaica Universe’ Yendi Phillipp’s victory after her second place win, at the `Miss Universe’ pageant this past August in Vegas. Jamaica is also aiming for a big win in the upcoming `Mis World’ pageant on October 30th in Sanya, China when Chantal Raymond, who won the `Miss Jamaica World 2010’ title in Kingston, will represent Jamaica in the `Miss World’ competition.
