The launch of Jacqui Tyson's Reggae Jammin Café was in the form of a Friday night lyme at the Constant Spring Golf and Country Club.
While the DJ was setting the tone with Bryan Adams' One Night LoveAffair, many members of the club and those attending the launch had their personal one-night love affair with the savoury, spicy and sweet dishes Tyson provided.
The love affair began with seating by the bar and flowed to the bistro tables dressed in white and lit by soft yellow, green and red lights. There was no complaining, as those in attendance indulged in the spread that ranged from spicy cheesy fries to heavenly strawberry cheesecake with beef sliders, chipotle shrimp, fish burgers, rotisserie jerk chicken, a selection of Hamilton Smokehouse sausages and cold cuts in-between. These delectable offerings comprise the menu for Tyson's Reggae Jammin Café, as well as her famous mango-glazed pig's tail and a variety of pasta dishes.
TWISTS AND TWEAKS
Tyson told Food that the signature of this café will be adding twists and tweaks to regular recipe to suit everyone's dietary needs. "There will be a chef on-site all the time and he will be able to whip up anything from a cup of soup to a salmon. We want people to come out and dine, because it's not just hanging out and eating, it's an experience with good, healthy food that is affordable and fairly priced."
Open to everyone and not just members of the club, the café opens from 11 a.m to 7 p.m from Monday to Friday, but on Saturday and Sundays at 8 a.m. with breakfast that includes omelettes done to order, and Jamaican specials like ackee and salt fish and mackerel rundown.
Tyson told Food that this latest venture wasn't planned but is the fruit of her own love affair with the Jamaica Broilers Group for the past 15 years. This led to the renovation of the kitchen of the Constant Spring Golf and Country Club. Brand manager for Reggae Jammin, Racquel Watson, was very excited about this latest partnership with Tyson. "The partnership will have Jacqui Tyson utilising all products, including Reggae Jammin, Best Dressed Chicken, Hamilton Smokehouse, shrimp and salmon - you name it, we have it."
