Okay it is the season for giving just days away as in Christmas December 2013- The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation (MCADF) is joining with the efforts being mounted by the National Volunteer Centre.
We are helping the centre enact their project: Into its eight year, the efforts of Day of Caring volunteers continue to make a significant impact on the lives of the homeless. With more than 2,000 community hours given by over 1,400 volunteers, this significant initiative assists over 600 homeless persons annually.
The Council of Voluntary Social Services, in observation of International Volunteers Day, and under the auspices of its National Volunteer Week will be organizing the eight annual ‘Day of Care’ to homeless persons living in Downtown, Kingston. This will be held in the St William Grant Park on Saturday, December 7, 2013.
We intend to cater for some 800 homeless and disadvantaged persons - offering care packages, clothing, a hot breakfast and lunch, medical assessment and edutainment on various health and social issues.
This event is a significant one as the plight of the homeless is often ignored and the dedication of volunteers is often underscored. Your support can change that with the increased level of awareness on such a national issue. We thank you in advance for your kind consideration of our request.
I can be contacted at 9060065 or email volregistry@yahoo.com for further information. The contact numbers direct for the centre are above. And we the MCADF are soliciting water and cranwater for this project, we have gotten direct pledges to the MCADF to the tune of 16 cases of both cranwater and wata please call the MCADF directly to help us raise more cases of water for the project. I plan to be there to interact and do my part with my team.
