Born in Trinidad; Artist Glen Martin considers that one of the most important things to know about him. “If I hadn’t been,” he says, “I couldn’t have done half the things I’ve done in my life.” Martin’s love of nature and admiration of the female figure are constant influences on his work. He believes in surrounding himself with sources of inspiration, and advises budding artists to do the same.

Visiting museums, botanic gardens, or working in the garden of his historic Pre-Revolutionary Brooklyn home: these activities keep Martin constantly motivated. “I’m very observant of human activity,” he states, “this is what captivates me.”

A full scholarship to the Pratt Institute of New York led him to a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and to a successful career spanning nearly four decades. Even so, Martin considers himself to be constantly growing as an artist, always driven to innovate. His aim is for each new body of work to surpass the last.
Glen Martin’s latest exhibition will be at Horizons Art Gallery, with a grand opening on June 28, from 7 pm to 8.30 pm, and continuing until July 9, 9 am to 5.30 pm weekdays; 9 am to 1pm Saturdays.
