On Saturday March 22-2014 at the Gee Whiz Parking Lot in Kingston Jamaica, history was made when the iconic stage show series Follow Di Arrow, was morphed into the new product FOLLOW UR SOUND.
After calling it quits on his annual “Follow Di Arrow” event, promoter Dexton Ennis has now changed the name and concept of the show to, you guessed it: Follow Ur Sound.
The official launch of this new show took place over the past weekend, with sponsors and media and stakeholders on hand, to witness what should be an historic change.
Sponsored by Magnum Tonic Wine, the series the promoters say... is set to ignite the social scene and will see four sound systems vying for the Follow Ur Sound Championship belt and quarter of a million dollars in cash.
Ennis promises a clean sound clash with no profanity or discriminatory lyrics, being allowed. Ennis told press and those gathered that, “ people have been asking us to do an event since we decided to discontinue our annual stage show, Follow Di Arrow, and this concept is the right fit. It’s original dancehall style with a modern direction”.
The first staging of the Magnum Follow Ur Sound series will take place on April 27-2014, at Sugarman’s Beach, Hellshire, St. Catherine and will feature Flava Unit, Silver Hawk, Bodyguard and Sound Trooper going head to head for the top spot.
Referee will be dancehall emcee extraordinaire Nuffy.
The event will be hosted by the Energy God, Elephant Man.
It will also see Nitty Kutchie and Tony Curtis facing off in a 45 minute shoot out.
