April is Autism Month.
The Maia Chung Autism and Disabilities Foundation (MCADF) is half a decade this year commemorating the anniversary of our existence on Sunday April 28-2013.
In our ongoing attempts to facilitate nation building we participated in a FREE TO THE PUBLIC HEALTH FAIR IN GOLDEN SPRING ST. ANDREW IN JAMAICA, TO PROVIDE TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT AFFORD TO GET THE REQUISITE CHECKS AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE HEALTH ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEM.
The event was held at the GOLDEN SPRING COMMUNITY CENTRE JUST OUTSIDE STONY HILL ST. ANDREW JAMAICA.
It was a huge success.
It occurred this past Saturday April 6-2013 at the Golden Spring Community Centre just outside Stony Hill.
Our booth was educational and fun.
Along with learning about Autism AND various disabilities, especially from the Jamaican perspective, there were chances to get on MCTV, as our film crew was there filming - to get programming to further advance your understanding of Autism. This will be aired on one of the Maia Chung dissemination mechanisms (see www.maiachungtv.com) for details. Or watch this space.
At that event we debuted to the public for the first time the latest World Report on Disability as produced by the World Health Organisation and the World Bank as at 2011. The MCADF has that document in summary and can be contacted at mcautismfoundation@gmail.com to access it.
A hearty thanks to our corporate sponsors Wisynco/Juicy Beef Patties and Grace Kennedy so we had snacks and juice that were healthy for you - when you hungered and were thirsty.
MCADF asks you to buy and support from these entities as they are sewing into the communities of some of the most neediest Jamaicans, lets band together and keep them prosperous!
Our volunteers from the University of the West Indies Mona Campus Kingston Jamaica, had brochures developed by them and speakers to educate on Autism.
We also gave away free DVDs of the MCADF documentary Autism Splash.
Thanks to the organisers of the health fair, for the chance to advocate and educate, which is our mission to build a better Jamaica, for all our citizenry.
The event was excellently planned and enacted by JODIAN SPAULDING EVENT MANAGEMENT.
AS WELL AS THE GROUP OF COURAGEOUS AND DEDICATED LOVING ARMS OUTREACH GROUP.
Thanks and love all.
