These are the five best hotels in Puerto Rico, according to Travel + Leisure’s 2026 “World’s Best Awards“ survey.

Puerto Rico is known as the “Island of Enchantment” for good reason, and these days, more travelers than ever are waking up to its charms.

Call it the Bad Bunny effect or something else, but Discover Puerto Rico reported that 2025 was the fifth year in a row the island welcomed more visitors than the year before, with everything from 500-year-old San Juan to the less-visited beaches and hidden surf spots of Aguadilla giving the island near-universal appeal. And with a growing collection of cool seaside spots and historic hotels across the island, visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to planning their hassle-free, no-passport-needed getaway. Even so, Travel + Leisure readers have narrowed down the list to five standout places to stay in Puerto Rico.

Close enough to San Juan to enjoy all the city has to offer but far enough to feel the breeze of the ocean and respond to its call, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve scored big with T+L readers as the best place to stay in Puerto Rico this year. The storied 1,400-acre property, set between beaches and pineapple groves, was once an estate of Laurance Rockefeller before opening as a resort in 1958. Now it’s the only Ritz-Carlton Reserve in the Caribbean, and has 96 beachfront suites and residences, many with plunge pools and private outdoor space. In addition to its beautiful stretch of shoreline and an expansive spa complete with treetop sanctuaries for treatment rooms, the property is also known for its award-winning food, ranging from traditional Puerto Rican fare at Coa to omakase experiences served with ocean views.

2. Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort

With just 107 rooms and suites, Wyndham Palmas Beach & Golf Resort feels boutique in size, and its laidback atmosphere pairs perfectly with the property’s beachside location on the eastern end of the island. The resort has oversized adults-only and family-friendly pools, two 18-hole championship golf courses, and five dining options, all spread across the 2,750 acres of the Palmas del Mar community, which is often visited by flocks of parrots and other tropical birds. Take advantage of the resort’s location to catch the ferry to the nearby islands of Vieques and Culebra, both beloved by locals and visitors alike for their uncrowded white-sand beaches.

3. Condado Vanderbilt Hotel

After a century reigning seaside over San Juan’s upscale Condado neighborhood, Condado Vanderbilt Hotel has handily earned its title as the island’s grand dame. The property faithfully preserves much of the original charm and character imbued when it welcomed the likes of Eleanor and Franklin D. Roosevelt, though multiple transformations have kept it fresh and timeless. An oversized pool deck with oceanfront dining is the place to be, though the spa (complete with the only hammam on the island) and the award-winning 1919 Restaurant are unmissable as well.

4. La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico, Autograph Collection

La Concha Resort, Puerto Rico, Autograph Collection has long been the place to see and be seen in the heart of Condado, and it’s now even more attractive thanks to a top-to-toe renovation that remade almost every corner of the property. Among the new additions are the Elemara Spa with its indoor-outdoor treatment rooms, and new dining options, from handrolls and sake at Tekka Bar to Levant, which is set in the iconic seashell-shaped structure that gives the resort its name. Almost all of the property’s rooms have ocean views and overlook the crescent of golden sand that makes La Concha just as popular with families as it has always been with style-minded travelers.

5. Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort

Tucked along a picturesque two-mile stretch of sand on the quieter eastern end of the island, Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Rainforest Beach and Golf Resort is a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of San Juan. In 2025, the property debuted a transformational refresh of everything from its oversized oceanfront pools to its sleek suites and dining options. Its proximity to El Yunque National Forest has always been a major plus for travelers looking to escape to what is the only tropical rainforest within the U.S. national forest system, for waterfall hikes or wildlife spotting before ending the day back at the beach. With its immersive outdoor atmosphere, you’d never guess the property is a little over a half-hour drive from the capital.
