The Road to Miss World for Miss St. Lucia

Aiasha Gustave’s fan base is growing rapidly as the pageant of her life nears. Her support isn’t confined to St Lucia and St Lucians living abroad, but transcends from people from all over the Caribbean. The hits for her new single, ‘I Only Have Eyes For You’ are soaring on Youtube and her Facebook fan page is littered with love.
The 17-year-old leaves St Lucia on Tuesday, September 28 for China and up until this point has been involved in a flurry of activities getting set for the pageant, including special appearances, one of the most recent at Cap Maison Hotel’s grand anniversary/fund raising party. There has hardly been a dull moment for the young woman who recently graduated from the International School, St Lucia, as she perfects her local Piaye Banan dance that she will portray as a cultural piece for the pageant and puts the final touches in place her presentation at the Miss World pageant.

When Aiasha spoke with the STAR there was hardly a hint of nervousness on the surface. Never mind her age, Aiasha was used to being in the spotlight, whether it was doing editorial shoots for magazines like SHE Caribbean, or being featured on Centric TVs Splash show. Her words come across with clarity, and she made sure to mention how thankful she was for all the support she was getting from friends, family and even strangers.

“Nothing is too far, too high to reach,” she says. “Focus on your dream and work hard to make it come true. Be thankful for every good opportunity that comes your way. Wake up and live!”
Aiasha was the youngest girl who took part in the Miss St Lucia World contest and said she’d do her best to represent her island and its beautiful culture, to share it internationally so others could appreciate it as much as she did.

“This is an experience I will treasure forever,” Aiasha expressed. “I am excited about going to China. I have never traveled there and look forward to a great experience. I would like to thank every single person for their support. It is truly very comforting and I appreciate everything! Thank you to everyone who has donated towards my trip to China, who have listened to my song and supported my singing career and for those who just are by my side supporting me all the way! I love you all! Thank you.”

Look out for the airing of the Miss World pageant on October 30!
