SHE Caribbean takes over Soufriere

SHE Caribbean Magazine celebrated in a big way over the weekend opening doors to a host of anniversary events that will be unveiled before the 10th anniversary edition of the magazine is released in time for summer 2010.
Models from Barbados, Trinidad and Jamaica arrived on island on Thursday and teamed up with select St Lucian models for what is being hailed as one of the magazines most exciting shoots to date. As part of anniversary celebrations, a team from Centric TV, previously BET J, was also part of the weekend expedition. The team
was in St Lucia to capture the best of St Lucia; in the form of SHE Publisher Mae Wayne’s favourite places on the island for the travel show “Splash”.

Several photo shoots for the anniversary edition took place at the publisher’s favourite spots, which included La Sikwi Sugar Mill in Anse La Raye and Stonefield Estate in Soufriere. Late Friday morning, the SHE Magazine tour bus left the STAR Publishing’s HQ en route to the shoot that would open activities for the weekend—the La Sikwi experience. Models for the first shoot included St Lucian model Aiasha Gustave along with Crystal Cunningham and Miss Barbados World Leah Marville, both of whom host “Splash” on Centric TV.

Despite a rainy weekend, the shoot was tremendously successful with Leah Marville playing a starring role, showing precisely why she was considered the Sexiest Woman Alive. She was captivating!

After the second shoot it was off to the Sulphur Springs for a brief tour, then onto Stonefield Estate where the team spent the weekend. The resort was relaxing and ecompassed nature at its best. Hardly anyone missed regular amenities like televisions that this resort saw none of, but as Trinidadian designer Claudia put it, she was left clueless on the second night as she arrived to the dinner table a few minutes late. There were no clocks in any of the rooms and she like select others was yet to figure out how to charge her BlackBerry. Amid frenzied fittings and early makeup calls, the calming nature of the resort, and the spectacular cuisine were more than welcome.

Saturday morning saw an in house shoot at the Plantation Villa at Stonefield while an afternoon shoot took place in Soufriere town— including a controversial church location that had all the desired results. Disregarding the hoopla over the shoot outside, inside the Catholic church in Soufriere, the models wore designs by Trinidad designer Claudia Pegus that bore less skin than most wear to church on regular Sundays!

The youngest model of the shoot was up and coming St Lucian Nathalie Bousquet, who blew everyone away. At only 13-years-old, Nathalie posed alongside the accomplished Jamaican Sedene Blake and was not one to fade into the background.

On that day all three models, including Leah Marville, blew away photographer Rick Wayne, creating yet another shoot with outstanding results.

After another splendid dinner experience at Stonefield on Saturday some of the SHE team stopped off at the Guinness Black Party at the new Whispers night club, while the models stayed in to get their beauty rest in preparation of another 5am date for hair and
makeup.

The final cover shoot for the anniversary edition took place in house, at the STAR’s studio, and the end result: a breathtakingly beautiful Leah Marville who will grace the magazine’s cover!
