The South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) paid over outstanding personal salary deductions for staff to some financial institutions today.

Dr. Andrei Cooke, Acting SERHA Board Chairman said the Region has been experiencing some challenge as it relates to paying over salary deductions in a timely manner. However, he said the Region has been collaborating with the Ministry of Health to ensure that this matter is resolved in short order.

“We are well aware of the fact that some members of staff have been affected by the delays and we want to apologise for any inconvenience they may have been facing,”

Dr. Cooke said. “We have secured some funds which were used to pay over outstanding deductions to some financial institutions today. We are now focused on securing additional funding to pay over the rest of the deductions as soon as possible.”

Dr. Cooke said the Region is also seeking to meet with some financial institutions to offset any discomfort the staff may have encountered due to the delay in the payment of salary deductions.

“We are working towards making future salary deduction payments in a timely manner as much as possible. We want to thank the staff for their continued commitment and patience during this challenging period and we ask that they bear with us just a little longer as we endeavour to bring this issue to a close,” Dr. Cooke said.
