On Thursday November 24, the Forestry Department will stage its 9th Annual Exposition under the theme “Forest for Life”.

As has been the case in the past, the Forestry Department will use this opportunity to highlight entities, whose activities are centered on good environmental stewardship.

In addition, businesses which promote the sustainable and effective use of our forest resources and environmentally friendly technologies will also be promoted.

Forestry Exposition 2011 is of particular importance as it is occurring against the background of this year being designation International Year of Forests by the United Nations.

The RADA team will be a part of the exposition and will be mounting a display to represent some elements of the work of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) – such as an Agricultural Disaster Risk Management model, an insect collection, along with a display of pheromone and sticky traps and displays of our extremely successful backyard gardening programme - among other applicable elements.

This year’s event will be held at the Emancipation Park in New Kingston from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

All displays should reflect the work you are doing in one of the categories listed below.

Ø Research and Development

Ø Forestry related goods and services/ Recreation

Ø Management or financial services support

Ø Care and preservation of the environment

The RADA Communications and Public Relations department would like as many of you to support us and the Forestry team as possible.

The event is free to the public and is very valuable for students, so please start arrangements for taking your students to this very educational and entertaining event, in addition to attending yourselves and make sure to stop at the RADA display asking all the questions you want and consider joining us in the great Agricultural world!
