It's all systems go for this year's staging of Caribbean Fashion Week (CFW).
The runway show commence tonight at the National Indoor Sports Centre in St Andrew and Kingsley Cooper, chief executive officer of Pulse, organisers of the event, notes that everything is in place for the start of the 15th anniversary staging.
"There are 40 designers in town representing a number of countries in North America and the wider Caribbean. Everything is in place and we anticipate a great show. Our models including Jeniel Williams and Oraine Barrett are here. Our latest star, Francine James, is busy having just shot 14 pages for German Vogue that it is unlikely she will make it."
Cooper is pleased with the contingent coming from the Caribbean island of Tobago.
"They have the largest contingent coming from any one country and we are happy to have them with us. They are developing their own fashion industry and see CFW as an excellend platform."
Seven Tobagonian designers will showcase their talent at CFW.
The Division of Finance and Enterprise Development in that country has co-ordinated this year's participation
Designers Kirsten Benjamin, Juliet Bernard, Ted Arthur, Lydia Arnaud-Lawrence
(L.O.C.K Creations), and Cherie Warner (Cee Wee Designs), are returning to CFW for the second time, while Cassey Daniel (Yesa! Designs) and Camille Khan (Kamille Kahn Designs), are both making their CFW debut.
The designers will share creations in leather craft, clothing, and accessories with a Tobago flair.
The team will also participate in the CFW business forum, which will provide training which will quip them to better manage the business side of fashion.
Participation in this year's CFW, is expected to build on the success of its 2014, which saw six
designers showcasing their talents in the emerging designers showcase.
