Public Health Inspectors Still Working - Jamaica

The Ministry of Health (MOH) in a statement the press is assuring the Jamaican public that "meat inspections along with visits to key food establishments and institutions are continuing".

The statement continued with the following information: this, as the Ministry of Health is using a range of measures to deal with the present impasse involving some Public Health Inspectors.

We must note that JALGO-represented Public Health Inspectors in the Kingston & St. Andrew Public Health Area are refusing to do duty travel using their personal vehicles.

All Non-JALGO-represented inspectors are functioning normally.

In the case of those who refuse to travel, their work is being facilitated by Public Health Department vehicles and assigned drivers.

In addition the KSA Public Health Department has engaged retired Public Health Inspectors to assist where there are challenges.

The Ministry of Health wishes to assure the public that in the meantime work continues to have a speedy resolution to the impasse.
