More Than A Model

25 year-old DION BAPTISTE is one of the leading faces on the model and dance arenas of Trinidad & Tobago. "Modeling came as a breeze," said the agile Sagatarian, who started in show business as a dancer. He’s a member of the UNI Dance Ensemble and also has his own performing company called TwinInc. Dion teaches contemporary, folk, jazz and modern dance while still finding time to pursue his degree in Dance and Dance Education at the University of the West Indies. No stranger to the stage, Dion said he started singing at 4 years-old. Now, he balances his time with dance performances, studies and a full time job as an accountant with the Institute of Marine Affairs. He’s appeared in advertising campaigns for B Mobile Black Berry and for the Office of Disaster Preparedness. Dion serves as the model/muse for the Millhouse Clothing Company and has toured as a dancer and model to countries like the U.S.A., the Bahamas, China, South Korea, Germany and St Kitts. The highlight of his career, however has been choreographing for the opening ceremony of the 5th Summit of the Americas, which was held in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and attended by President Barrack Obama. Dion also lists his work as a choreographer for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit opening ceremony as another highlight. Traveling to Barbados to choreograph 3000 people for the ICC World Cup Cricket opening ceremony was another high -point in this talented Caribbeanite’s repertoire.
