Launched on January 1, 2012
Maia Chung Television (MCTV) was officially launched in January 2012, as a Jamaican based media content provider. In 2009, when founder and chief operations officer, Maia Chung first conceptualised the idea, her desire was to provide a forum, through which original and non-typical, when compared with other content disseminators, not to mention positive Caribbean content could be spread globally.
Maia Chung has successfully served over two decades in the media industry, and is still assiduously active to date. With all the experience she has gained from her work, she decided to channel her knowledge and skills into owning her own media business.
She realized that the common practice was to shelve material that has the potential to impact the world, and instead put out ones that only make them money, MCTV is also dedicated to carrying informational content as opposed to crime news, unless extraordinarily nationally and regionally impactful.
She reasons there are enough channels of that kind of content.
She wanted to change that trend and move it steadily towards educating and entertaining the world in a much newer, positive and exciting way - add her efforts to job creations and positive perpetuation of the nation Jamaica and her Caribbean partners.
Officially launched in 2012 - MCTV only started rolling out content consistently in February of 2013.
