Local Scotiabankers walk for Haiti

Saturday January 30th at 6.05am, 30 local Scotiabankers with their Country Head Mr Chester Hinkson, Scotiabank Pensioners with family and friends including some colleagues from RBC Royal Bank of Canada, RBTT,ECFH and EC Global insurance, walked to Pigeon Island Fort. The 60-strong group was accompanied by a police outrider, the Red Cross and two Scotiabank organizers’ Nancy Augustin and Wendy Delmar. The organizers ensured that all the walkers were well hydrated, providing them with water and fruit juices at the start, during and after the walk, busy driving up and down the route making sure that persons were comfortable. These were kindly donated by Bryden and Partners, Peter & Company, and the Taiwanese Agricultural Lab. The group assembled at the Pigeon Island National Park, with kind permission granted by the St Lucia National Trust. Fruit (donated by Lucille Chitolie- Scotiabank Pensioner) was served at the park, where most of the participants were gathered. The walk culminated with prayers and song led by Father Cetoute. Scotiabank wishes to thank all those persons who made this walk possible, and the outpouring of assistance that we received. We were able to raise “$4,059” for the cause and wish to also thank the companies that were unable to make it, who sent in donations. Scotiabank’s corporate office will be matching the contributions, so in fact the group will be submitting $8,118 Haitian brothers and sisters.
