In Jamaica this year Safer Sex Week will be observed between Sunday, February 12 – 18, 2012.
The national events takes place at the Sinclair’s Bargain Centre, Linstead Town in St. Catherine Jamaica..
You are all welcome to participate and invite members of your network.
As is customary we invite you to commemorate the week at your organisation/department.
We are encouraging persons this year to take charge of their sex lives by using a condom, getting an HIV test and reducing the number of partners they have sex with.
This theme is providing additional publicity for the current “Real Man Nuh Ride Widout Condom” campaign.
In your department you may engage in all of or any of the following suggestions: Set up a displays.
Host sensitisation sessions on risk assessment and risk reduction Facilitate HIV testing.
Write letters to the editor discussing the HIV response and in support of the pending Occupational Safety and Health Act which covers HIV Prevention and Providing and Enabling Environment as a mandatory response in the workplace.
Run an HIV in the workplace.
Peer Educators can host discussions on safe sex.
Jamaica's Ministry of Labour and Social Security employees as well as the Ministry of Health will be very happy to assist you in coordinating or implementing any of the activities you would like to engage in.
It is through such activities that we will keep our workplace programmes on HIV implemented.
We look forward to working with you as we assist persons to reduce their risk for HIV transmission and be responsible with their sexual health.
