My special education colleague and Autism and Disabilities Foundation Supporter Leslie Ann Belnavis want Jamaica to be aware of the following.

The post was constructed by her.

Please feel free to get involved, the more of these efforts we all support the more development of infrastructure and support for the disabled will develop. (We pray in Jesus name).

Leslie Ann says:

I have been working as an art therapist at Genesis Academy and the S.T.E.P. Centre for the past two years.
Both institutions cater to the needs of children with various disabilities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, and developmental delays.

The programme has been sponsored by the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica (EFJ) and will end in June/July this year.
As a result, I have organized an art therapy exhibition called "True Expressions: Our Story" that will showcase how the process have been used with the students at both schools.

I am inviting you all to attend the opening ceremony on Tuesday April 24, 2012 at 8:30am at Genesis Academy, 38 South Camp Road.
The exhibition will run from Tuesday April 24 - Friday April 27, so you will have the opportunity to see the pieces if you are unable to attend.

If you have any questions or are interested in attending please contact me at 304-5554 or via email at jamarttherapist@gmail.com.
