The 12th Arts Festival of the Caribbean, CARIFESTA, will be held in Haiti from August 14 to 23 under the theme “Our Roots, Our Culture, Our Common Future.” Prime Minister Evans Paul, Minister of Culture, Dithny Joan Raton and Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries, Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, appeared at a function where they launched the official CARIFESTA website to enable the global public to have access to information related to the event.
Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Paul said CARIFESTA is an ideal opportunity for Haiti to demonstrate its ability to organize major cultural festivals.
“This is an opportunity to show our tourism potential and for visitors to witness our rich cultural diversity. Our country will use this opportunity to promote our artistic works, like dance, painting, and music. On behalf of the government, I invite all sectors: cultural, tourism and economic, to be mobilized for the success of this major artistic exposition.”
Minister Villedrouin guaranteed arrangements will be made to accommodate all the CARICOM delegations attending the event.
“All the tourism sectors, including the hotel industry, is ready to welcome the some 2,000 individuals representing the various countries taking part in the festival.”
Minister Raton says during the festival it will be will be important to highlight the tourism potential of Haiti. The Minister also announced a media promotional program for CARIFESTA, while declaring the festival “will be one of the events that will highlight the country positively this year.”
