CayFilm 2016 is just around the corner, from July 1-4, bringing film screenings, workshops, seminars and star-studded parties to Cayman’s shores.
Movie buffs, aspiring actors, directors and film crew who have not already bought tickets should do so soon if they want to take advantage of early bird prices.
Discounted ticket pricing opened runs until May 29. Regular pricing kicks in from May 30 to July 4.
Early bird pricing
Early bird General Passes cost US$50 and include access to all film screenings, panels and workshops from July 2-4 at all venues.
Early bird VIP Passes cost US$375 and include access to all film screenings, panels and workshops from July 1-4 at all venues.

Unlike General Passes, these tickets also include access to the Opening and Closing Night Celebrity Galas.
Regular General Passes will cost US$62.50, and regular VIP Passes will cost US$500.
Student Passes cost US$31.25, with the same access level as the General Pass. Adult-rated films will require parent or guardian supervision if the student is under 18.
Festival details
CayFilm 2016’s event schedule covers a range of venues and is still being finalized. On Friday evening, the festival opens with a gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. This VIP Pass-only event will also be the venue for a reunion for the cast of the 2004 movie “Haven,” which was filmed locally and written and directed by Frank E. Flowers.
Saturday will provide workshops and film screenings throughout the day at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, The Cayman Islands National Gallery and the Harquail Theatre. Monday features a “Star Wars” panel in the afternoon, followed by a closing Gala Awards ceremony. More schedule details will soon be available on cayfilm.com.

Featured films and documentaries for this year’s festival include “SALLY,” “Best and Most Beautiful Things,” “Nathan East: For the Record,” “The Story of M, Loopi Gugo,” “The Wizard of Beale Street,” “Story of a Wild Girl,” “Ron Taylor: Dr. Baseball, Out of Bounds – Sports in the Inner City,” “Tripping Through,” “Lucy,” “Mafiosa,” “Bighorns at the Junction,” “Shooting Star,” “Little Me,” “Ashes” and “My Brother’s Keeper.”
Well-known international actors, directors, stunt professionals and special effects masters will be attending, with confirmed names as of press time including Victor Rasuk, Loren Carpenter, Art Camacho, Adam Kane, Dieter Sturm, George Gibbs, Yusaku Mizoguchi, David Gouge, Jeremy Bulloch, Ben Burtt, Robert Watts, Lorne Peterson and Reno Wilson. Film buyers will also be in attendance, which may be of great interest to those who submitted work to the festival at the end of April.
These submitted films will be up for awards at the closing gala, in categories including Feature Film Narrative, Short Film Narrative, Screenplay, Feature Film Documentary, Documentary Short, Animated Short Film, Environmental Films, Underwater films, First Film, Extreme Sports, Local Cayman Filmmaker, Music Videos, and Fake Film Trailers.
