The College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) is advising the nation that it is adequately prepared and ready for the staging of its Internal Research Day this Thursday and its 18th Graduation Ceremony on November 28, 2013.
The Research Day will feature pioneering work in the fields of ICT, Renewable Energy, Climate Change and Literacy.
The day’s event will stretch across both campuses (East and West) and feature presenters from among faculty, students and administration.
The idea for the Research Day was born out of an initiative of the President, Rev’d Dr. Mary Nichols, JP who is on a quest to unearth and expose the positive and groundbreaking work of the CASE community.
She feels, “we need to be on show for the great work we are doing. We have done the Bio-gas System and created the Honey Extractor. These things need to be on show for Jamaica to benefit,” Dr. Nichols implored staff in a meeting of the Research Committee.
Major Johnathan Lamey , Vice President of Academic Programmes concurs that the research team is busy preparing for the eight presentations and the two plenaries for Thursday.
He also express delight at the fact that this president has saw it fit to revive the CASE Research Day.
“We at CASE are cognizant that research has to be on going and
is significant in leading the way for the creation of new knowledge,” said Major Lamey.
Meanwhile College Registrar, Ms Charmaine Gordon is reporting that students slated to graduate from the various programmes at CASE have been expressing overwhelming positive feedback regarding their 2013 graduation exercise.
She expressed that activities are on schedule and there is a rehearsal scheduled for this Friday at 1:30pm in the T.P. Lecky Hall on the West Campus of the College.
