JAMAICAN sprint superstar Usain Bolt may have just landed his dream job. The 26-year-old was named honorary Director of Excitement by Japanese automaker Nissan yesterday.
According to insideline.com, Nissan hosted the double Olympic gold medallist at its Yokohama office where he unveiled a custom-edition of the GT-R, with interior bits coated in real gold. The company said it would be subsequently auctioned on e-Bay and the money donated to Bolt's charity foundation.
The automaker also announced it would selling a "Bolt Edition" of the all-wheel-drive sports car worldwide as well as building a special 545-hp GT-R for Bolt's personal use. The double Olympic gold medallist currently owns a Nissan GT-R.
"Bolt will start work with Nissan product specialists on a limited-edition version that can be ordered in markets where GT-R is available," said Nissan in a statement. "Details of this project will be announced at a later stage."
The sprint star also teams up with Formula One driver Mark Webber on Nissan's new "What If" advertising campaign.
Widely regarded as the fastest person ever, Bolt is the first man to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records since fully automatic time measurements became mandatory in 1977.
