DISCOVERY BAY, St Ann - Triple Olympic gold medallists and world record holder Usain Bolt created quite a stir at the Kaiser Sports Club here Sunday when he bowled West Indies cricket captain Chris Gayle for a measly 22 runs. Bolt, using his childhood experience as a young cricketer, at medium pace, bowled Gayle shortly after the West Indies captain hit him for six to send spectators scampering for cover.

(Photo: AP) "It feels good, I love cricket from I was a child and I thoroughly enjoyed myself . I told him (Gayle), he wasn't going to last," Bolt said after his Trelawny All Stars XI was beaten by Gayle's Kingston and St Andrew All Star XI for a place in the final. Action was in the Chris Gayle-led CJ Sporting Goods Company Limited Charity 15/15 Pro cricket competition where a throng of past and present West Indies and Jamaican cricketers engaged each other. "It was a good game . I am really happy for the turnout and I must thank everybody, all the players, past and present, all the sponsors . this charity game it was really good," Gayle said adding that at least 10 schools from Kingston, St Ann, Trelawny and St Mary will benefit. An estimated 20,000 patrons turned out for the event and according to Gayle more schools could also benefit and receive sporting gear, computers and other school supplies. "Usain Bolt, he had fun, got my wicket as well, so it's really good to see a track superstar playing cricket and getting another star out," Gayle mused. Gayle's All Star XI emerged winner over the Jerome Taylor-led St Elizabeth All Stars XI in the final of the three-match 15-over cricket extravaganza. The final game was reduced to 12 overs and the St Elizabeth team was restricted to 97-4 with Ridley Jacobs 42 not out being the team's top batsman. Responding, the Kingston-based team made 100-3 in nine overs with Wavell Hinds, 44, and Runako Morton, 41, not out. Earlier, Bolt faced 10 balls, but was restricted to 13 runs, including a four and a straight six off Gayle before he was caught by Kemar Allen, as his side battled with the stars from Kingston. In the opening match, wickets for the St Ann All Stars XI, led by Xavier Marshall fell quickly as the team was bowled out for 123 in 14.2 overs in response to 171-4 set by the St Elizabeth team, which included Shawn Findley and Ridley Jacobs. Among the star players were Courtney Walsh, Courtly Ambrose, Wavell Hinds, (Man of the Match) Ramaresh Sarwan, Ridley Jacobs, Yoland Blake, Daren Powell, Corey Colleymore and Shawn Findley. Also on hand to witness the event were former West Indies star Richie Richardson and president of the West Indies Players' Association Dinanath Ramnarine.
