Steel Pulse to perform at Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival

Roseau, Dominica – Steel Pulse, UK’s Grammy Award Winning reggae band, is the final of many outstanding acts to sign to perform at Dominica’s 14th Annual World Creole Music Festival, which will take place October 29 – 31, 2010.
Established in 1975, Steel Pulse is the only UK reggae group to win a Grammy, when they took home the Best Reggae Album category for their album Babylon The Bandit in 1985. Their international success earned them further Grammy nominations for their albums, Victims, Rastafari Centennial, Rage & Fury, Living Legacy and African Holocaust.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Steel Pulse to Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival,” commented Colin Piper, CEO/Director of Discover Dominica Authority. “Securing the appearance of such a well-known band as Steel Pulse reinforces the musical variety of reggae and Creole music that makes Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival a continuous success in the Caribbean.”

The band has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Stevie Wonder to the Stranglers and has performed live with Bob Marley & the Wailers, Sting, Inxs, Santana, Robert Palmer and Bob Dylan, amongst others. Steel Pulse is currently working on a new album that is scheduled to hit stands by the end of 2010, and have released their single Barack Obama Song.

Jah Cure, Exile One, Luciano, Triple Kay International, WCK, T-Vice, Creole Stars featuring Princess Lover and several other top performers have previously been confirmed as part of the lineup for the three-day event. Highly anticipated by fans of this style of music, the 14th Annual World Creole Music Festival will be held October 29 – 31, 2010. A well-established Caribbean and international platform for artists of the genre, the festival is widely seen as one of the only truly indigenous music events in the Caribbean.

Over the years, the festival has attracted some of the most renowned musical groups and soloists from the Creole-speaking World. Past performances included premier acts such as Exile One, Kassav, Gramacks/New Generations, Tabou Combo, Swinging Stars, La Perfecta and others as well as solo artists like Sean Paul, Ophelia, Tania St. Valle, Sakis, Franky Vincent, Sweet Mickey and Maxi Priest.
