LONDON, UK - The famed Jamaican born British entrepreneur, chef, musician, author and television personality, Levi Roots, will display his mastery of Caribbean cuisine at London’s prime wine and spirit-tasting venue, when the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) takes the tastes, spirits and rhythms of the Caribbean to the British capital on Saturday.

Roots’ success in promoting authentic Jamaican cuisine has earned him appearances on the BBC television show, Ready Steady Cook, as a celebrity. The appearance coincided with the release of his recipe book, Reggae Reggae Cookbook. Just this week he won two major awards: Entrepreneur of the Year at the 7th annual Urban Music Awards hosted at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London and Best New Product at the World Food Awards for Reggae Reggae Sauce.

“Levi Roots is very much in demand and we are pleased that he has agreed to be part of Food, Rum and Rhythm and to allow those attending an opportunity to meet him and experience his extraordinary talent,” said Carol Hay, the CTO’s director of marketing for the UK/Europe.

In addition to the displays, Roots will promote copies of his new book “Caribbean Food Made Easy”, recipes from which were featured on the BBC2 September series of the same name, as well as his newly launched album.

Food, Rum & Rhythm is part of CTO’s programme to market the Caribbean ahead of World Travel Market (WTM), the UK’s leading tourism trade fair. Its main aims are to showcase and celebrate the sights, sounds, colours, cuisine and best rums of the Caribbean.

The London event will offer visitors the chance to sample a wide selection of Caribbean rums plus a range of local gastronomic specialities from about a dozen exhibiting Caribbean tourist boards, a new Caribbean beach resort and two of London’s Caribbean restaurants.
